Western Digital has launched the new model for the WD_BLACK series of drives in Israel, the SN770 NVMe SSD intended for gamers.
The SN770 received a significant upgrade compared to the SN750 NVMe SSD launched in 2019. It now reaches the performance of the 800 families by providing up to 5,510 megabytes of reading and 4,900 megabytes of writing. To achieve maximum performance, a computer with an M.2 interface in the PCIe Gen4 x4 standard is required, but the drive also backs up PCI Gen 3.
Western Digital will offer the SN770 in an M.2 NVMe configuration in volumes of 250, 512 GB, and 1 and 2 terabytes, and according to the company, the drive is intended for gamers in order to upgrade responsiveness during games, reduce stuttering (In-game stutter) and enable data transfer Smooth. The company also says that the drive provides up to 20% more energy efficiency at maximum speeds compared to previous generations.
The SN770 series was developed in Israel and combines a self-made work controller and a TLC NAND memory of SanDisk, which it owns, but without a cache as in the previous series. In performance tests, it seems that despite this, it manages to deliver the guaranteed performance.
The recommended price for a consumer of the WD_BLACK SN770 will be NIS 220 for a capacity of 250 GB and up to NIS 999 for 2 terabytes.
